Fitness Class Descriptions

Classes and use of the Moana Athletic Club are complimentary for guests of Hyatt Regency Maui and are included in your resort fee. Class sizes are limited; please sign up on the sheet located outside the dance studio in the fitness center. Please check in five minutes before class.


Group water exercise class, good for all levels. It is recommended participants are able to swim. Session includes some water aerobics to warm the body, water buoys and or noodles are used for strength training and to work the core (torso) for stability. 
A cross training workout! Targets the bodies major muscle groups and the three primary elements of fitness (cardio, strength, flexibility). Meets in the athletic club but this one is done outdoors on the beach, in the sand and on the grass utilizing our natural environment. Shoes optional.
Another cross training work out! This class utilizing the theory of muscle confusion, moving from upper to lower body to abdominals to plyometric. May incorporate the use of free weights, resistance tubes, stability balls, medicine balls, bosu and platform risers.
An intermediate level step class. Basic steps used in combination to create a sequence that elevates the heart rate and helps the body to burn stored fuels. Includes an abdominal series and stretching.

Introduction to meditation and breath awareness. Offering tools to help you begin a meditation practice or to enhance your current practice.

Pilates has become one of the most popular ways to get fit and strong. This class highlights some of the main exercises that are considered the foundation of “classical” Pilates training. The principle of control is the main focus of this exercise system.
This session incorporates basic Hatha Yoga and The Pilates Method. Recommended for the runner or athlete who wants to strengthen the core and gain flexibility and for those looking for “Healthy Back” exercises.

This stress reduction practice is a series of postures that will help you release stress, increase flexibility and promote deep relaxation.

A unique combination of breathing and strong fluid movement which creates a sequence of postures that flow into one another, building strength and increasing flexibility. Yoga experience recommended.

Latin inspired dance fitness class that incorporates Latin and international music and dance movements, creating a dynamic, and effective fitness system. Combines fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body using an aerobic/fitness approach to achieve a unique blended balance of cardio and muscle-toning benefits.
